Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 2016

The boys and I got up early today for our 5k turkey trot. This year it seemed there were far more people than before, it took us around 45 minutes to run/walk the course.

Tyler swims 9-10 at Cuda Pentathlon meet

Tyler moved up from 8 and unders to 9-10 for this meet. That makes him one of the youngest, so instead of being the fastest 8 year old, he is now mid pack 9-10. Of course he can still compete for a couple of years at this age group.  He finished 58 out of 95 in his 50 breast (52.82), with only a few 9 year old's beating him, so already competitive.

1,000 miles of running in 2016

I reached my goal of 1,000 miles for the year today. There may be a few more miles to add, but after 136 hours of running and 97,000 calories I have officially reached my goal.

It finally snowed today.  Not enough to stick on the ground, but a huge change from yesterday 70 degree weather.

Cody finally overtook Tyler in Kumon today, Well technically he is a few levels behind, but his progress has been quicker.  Tyler passed D1 reading in January, Cody passed in November so a couple of months earlier.

Denver science museum also had a free day this weekend, so we took Jude with us to check out the museum.  We got to see the sun through the solar telescope and check out the really big animal exhibit.

Cody eats cake at Jonah's party

Cody went to his friend Jonah's party today.  They got to build a bunch of wooden trucks and eat cake.  They took part in the cake challenge, which seems to involve sticking your face in the cake plate.

Longmont museum had a free day, so we went to visit and check out the lowrider cars exhibit.  Not worth paying for, but pretty cool to see.

Cody swims in the November Pizza meet

Cody took part in his second Pizza meet of the season today.  He managed to win one of his races and was close in the others.. He had some unofficial pb's in a couple of events - 25 Back  - 26.84, 25 Breast - 38.50, 25 Fly - 30.84, 50 Free - 55.01.

Election Night

The boys got to vote at school today. In their case they were voting for favorite Peanuts character, for the adults it was for the President..

They got to see some of the results before heading to bed, and had lots of questions on the process and results.

Free DQ from the Broncos

The boys got a voucher for a free DQ from the Broncos on their birthday.  As they were both at the same swim location (close to DQ) for once, we took the opportunity to have our dessert before our dinner.

After our tournament in the morning, we headed to Home Depot to celebrate one of Cody's swimming buddies birthdays.  They had a great time and built a minion scooter before cake and ice cream.

The boys and I played badminton at the Pikes Peak open in Monument this weekend.  We did okay, but still not strong enough yet.  They did pick up a trophy for Boys U14.

Cody had a 2 day swim meet over the weekend.  We were hoping that he would finally get a legal time for butterfly and breast stroke as well as improve his pb's.  He did get 5 pb's and 1 DQ (for breaststroke), but overall he had a great swim weekend.

Balloon Glow

Westminster held a balloon glow this year. This is where they don't let the balloons take off, but they set them up and hit the burner so you see a glow.  Unfortunately they claimed it was too windy to do even that, so we only got to see the fire pit and the basket without the balloon.

Cody gets a new PB in his 5k

The boys ran another 5k this weekend.  Tyler ran with us for the first half of the race, then sped off to the finish.  Cody improved on his previous time of 37:08 to a more respectable 34.33 beating his dad by 2 seconds at the finish line.

While I was timing at the pizza meet, Cody had his older brother Tyler act as manager and coordinator.  Cody did all 4 25 yard events (fly, free, breast, back) and had a couple of unofficial pb's.

We went to the Westminster adventure golf center to celebrate Camerons birthday.  Tyler showed he was the fastest go kart driver again, but I did manage to beat him at golf.

We have been to Elitch gardens a few times this year to take advantage of our season pass. This was our last time of the year and coincided with fright night. Basically they add a few props to the rides and make it look more scarier. We didn't do many rides, but the boys had fun.

We have finally got Cody started on his piano lessons. His first formal lesson is coming up, but in the meantime he has been practicing at home with help from his mother and his brother.
