Cody Swim Goals

These are the goals that Cody set for himself (well he did have some help).  His answer to the first question was 'Daddy makes me', but I didn't think the coach would like that answer.

Old Pants, new Pants

Now that Cody is officially in Cudas we ended up getting him some new swim pants, as his old ones stretched below the knee!

The Mills Boys compete in their first race of the season

We originally scheduled this as a family, but as Siew Gin was completing her scuba course, it was just the boys.  The course was only a mile, but with the wind it seemed more like 2 miles..  We are now officially sub 14'ers.  This would actually be a respectable time for 5k, but not so good for 1 mile, unless you are of course only 5 years old.

The race is pretty cool as lots of stuff for kids, and you finish inside the stadium.

DQ for lunch

Cody got to pick our lunch spot today, as Mummy was busy with Scuba so we didn't have to go to Golden Bowl (again).

Cody chose dairy queen, which is not renowned for its extensive range of food, but does have nice ice cream.  After they finished their hot dog they had ice cream, still cant persuade Cody that the chocolate dipped one is the way to go.

Hurry up Daddy, we want to eat!

Fish and Chips

After Kumon, I took the boys for fish and chips.  Tyler claims they are not as good as the ones from England, but there was certainly a lot of chips (and fish).

Tyler and Cody both went to the Cuda Pool Party.  They both enjoyed horsing around with their friends and Tyler did a good job of making sure Cody didn't sink..

Cody joins Cuda's

Cody started his 2 week trial with the same swim team that Tyler belongs to, the Barracudas.  He seemed to enjoy the first session, and I was proud that he had the stamina to swim more than 16 lengths as he is used to swimming in a much smaller pool.

He is joined in the team by his friend Jonah, who is 1 year above him at school, and Tyler's friend Mila who is 2 years above Cody.  You can tell by the pictures he is the smallest, youngest one.

He may be the smallest, but he is at least 6 feet tall, based on the 10 ft marker

Family Ride/Bike

We had an Easter party to go to today, so we didn't have a chance to go to the pool (closed) or badminton.  Instead Siew Gin went to Yoga while I fed the kids breakfast, and then we all went down to Metzger farm to run and bike along dry creek trail.

I was only planning on running for 30 minutes, but Cody was cycling quite fast, so we managed to keep going for a 45 minute round trip of 5.2 miles.  Siew Gin and Tyler got an extra mile in with a lap around the small lake, and when we finished Tyler complained that Mummy was too slow, and Siew Gin complained that Tyler was too fast.

The boys of course want to cycle further, we did an 8 miler recently, but I am not sure I can run the 16 miles that Tyler talks about.  Maybe after Bolder Boulder I will work on running some longer distances.

The boys received their Easter bunny delivery this morning, and there were a few chocolate and walkers surprises for Alan and Siew Gin as well.

Tyler at Emma's Party

Tyler was invited to his classmates Emma's party.  Luckily for Tyler we could only attend for the last 20 minutes or so as we had a swim meet before.  Tyler was definitely outside his comfort zone as the party was a lot of karaoke and dancing.  As soon as he arrived he was asked by multiple girls to sing and dance, but he prefered sitting.  Looks like he got Dad genes, and Cody got his Mums.

Tyler wins first place at Brighton April Fools swim meet

Exactly one year to the day, Tyler went back to the Brighton pool to take part in the April fools meet. His swimming has improved a lot, and he is really enjoying his swimming these days.  There were quite a few good 7 year olds this year, so Tyler had to make sure that he didn't get DQ'd in any event as well as take part in 5 events to ensure victory.  In the end he broke 4 PB's and placed first in 4 out of the 5 events, in the 5th event he and I discussed making sure that he didn't have to win, just finish to ensure that he got 1st place overall, so he took it easy and managed a second place in the 100 IM.

After the swimming the kids got to jump in the pool and hunt for easter eggs, which sounds as crazy as you would think, then after all that he picked up his award.

A visit from the Easter Bunny

Cody's school had a small easter egg hunt and a large bunny visit on Friday.  Tyler got into the action by helping Cody find eggs.  The funniest part was the kids were all sat inside and the bunny went outside the room and all the kids said there is the 'fake bunny'. The teacher closed the window shade and then Cody said there it is, at it went past the next window.

At least Tyler is over his Leporiphobia
