Locker Boys

Tyler is taking swimming lessons so twice a week we go to the rec center. This week the boys decided that they would finish the evening by putting themselves in the locker.

Here they are enjoying the lockers...

Tyler's first plant

Summer is finally here and i planted some new plants in the garden and Tyler wanted to have his own. So, i gave him a little pot and gave him some plants to "take care of". Here's our little guy all excited about watering his flowers. Let's see if it survives the summer!

Fathers Day Hike - Three Boulder Peaks in under 4 hours !!

May 2009, Steffen and I completed 3 boulder peaks in under 5 hours. This year we redid the same trail and managed to complete it in under 4 hours...

We left at 6:23am from Gregory Canyon trailhead and reached the top of Green Mountain (2.7 miles) in 1 hour 10 minutes. after another 1 hour 5 minutes we made it to Bear Mountain (2.75 miles), then 18 minutes later we made it to the top of South Boulder (0.7 miles) , so technically 2 and a half hours to do all three peaks !!

Another 80 minutes of descending the last 3.3 miles saw us finish the hike at 10:16am.

This is 9.45 miles in 233 minutes or 2.5mph

According to the heart monitor, I burned 2,249 calories so enough to cover my steak for Fathers day, and an average hear rate of 115, peaking at 152 bpm

Here is the heart rate track

Fathers Day Weekend Saturday

Fathers day was officially Sunday, but we kicked the weekend off on Saturday morning by waking up Tyler and Cody early to go see hot air balloons take off in Boulder.

It was a windy morning, so only six balloons managed to take off, but the boys seemed to enjoy it.

A quick breakfast at walnut Cafe, and then back to Boulder Airport to check out the old planes and helicopters..

A few of the planes did take off, and we managed to have our picture taken for the Boulder Daily Camera

Here is a rare picture of the family !!

Riding in the car

Tyler was always a car seat child and he's quite happy to sit in it. Cody, on the hand, spent most of his life out of one while we were in the Philippines. So, i was a little apprehensive when we first got back. But he seemed to take it fine! He does fuss a little at times which is the reason we are still not brave enough to take any longer distance drives!!!

Here are some pics of the boys in happier times in the car!!

Cody's bike ride

We've been trying to get Tyler to continue riding his bike since we got our stuff back. But since Cody is not able to ride yet, it's not always that exciting to ride as a family, well, at least it was, till Alan found this cool bike seat for Cody(my original idea, of course)!!

We even got this cute little helmet for his itty bitty head..

Waiting to get buckled up

Are you sure it's on right, daddy??

Ok, ready to rock and roll!!!

Who needs restaurants...

when your husband can also whip up yummy chinese food in the comfort of your own home?

Anyways, i got a nice e-vite from Alan inviting me for a fancy family dinner on Friday. I came home earlier just to check out what tomato-based-beef dished he had created. But was surprised that nothing was cooked yet.

So, I offered to take the kids out to the park for a bit so that he could get dinner ready. So, after an hour, we came home and we were welcomed by the sweet aroma of five spice powder.. whoo.. I know.. and on the table, was a feast(ok, small feast) of chicken lo mein, pineapple beef and Malaysian fish curry! And since he made such a big effort, I made a small effort and put on a nice dress for the nice family event. :)

I tell you, those Eastenders episodes are finally paying off. This was definitely an Alfie Moon worthy effort! :) Thanks, my love! (pssstt... next time get rid of those pesky kids too!)

A nice family dinner

Sunrise Stampede 2 Miler - Top 30 finish

I normally run the Sunrise Stampede 10k which comes a few weeks after Bolder Boulder, but for the last few weeks I have been ill, so haven't been running. So I elected to do the 2 Mile race instead.

I felt very sluggish in my legs and short of breath during the run, but I did manage to finish in 28th place, third for my age !!

Results showed my heart rate was pretty high during the race, probably as a result of being sick and my pace was slower than expected. 6:53 per mile versus expected 6:30 per mile.

559 people finished the 2 miler and 414 finished the 10k..

Ice Cream Vans still exist !!

Sunday afternoon while we were working in the garden, we heard the bells of an ice cream van. It seems that they still exist and they even have a web site.

We only had enough cash for Tyler and Siew Gin to buy an icecream, but they seemed to enjoy them.

Siew Gin can certainly eat them quickly

Legos

Tyler has one of the worlds smallest Lego collections, but it doesn't stop him wanting to build something with the few pieces he does have. This weekend he wanted to build a secret hideaway for the hippo, so this is what he came up with..
Cody is mainly concerned with destroying anything that Tyler builds at this stage, but he is starting to build as well.

We requested that Grandma send Daddy's Legos from England so that Tyler and Cody have a few more to play with
