Cody and Tyler complete their second cycle/bike run

Tyler finished his piano recital event this morning and Siew Gin went off to her camera lecture, so we took the opportunity to do another boys bike and run.

Cody as we suspected was able to do the whole 8 miles this time, with Tyler adding a lake loop into the mix.

8 miles and counting

Cody and his eagle

On the way back from Tyler's piano recital we spotted a giant eagle.  Strangely enough there are quite a few eagles near us, but none as big as this one. Tyler who normally likes taking pictures with crazy things wanted to stay in the car, but Cody was more than happy to be in the picture.

Alan training run - The boys cycle along

I had a 1 hour run scheduled today, so I persuaded the boys that they could cycle along while I run. This is normally an easy 8 miler for me, but today with the boys we only managed 6.2 miles in sixty minutes.

This was Cody's first long cycle ride, and he had only the 1 gear, and his speed was a lot slower on gravel than it was on the paved part of the trail.

I am sure that next time we go out, they will be able to make the full 8 miles!

Spongebob Movie anyone?

We went to a movie this morning, there wasn't a lot of choice, so we settled on Sponge Bob  The boys seemed to enjoy it, I didn't think it was that good, but there was some funny bits in it.

They did seem to like some of the trailers and they are looking forward to the new super hero movie.

Daddy is still the golf champion

I took the boys to the mini-golf today, as they wanted to do something fun.  After a lot of debate about which course to do, they finally settled on Buccaneer Bay.  Tyler has got the hang of it now, Cody still chases the ball around and doesn't really aim it yet.  Surprisingly the only hole in 1 was by Tyler, but I still managed to beat them both and remain champion.

Afterwards they enjoyed Chic-Fil-A!!

Just like Disney

Most Hilarious hike in the snow..

After we checked out on Sunday, we were supposed to go tubing, but it was sold out. So, we thought we'd do a little hike instead. We had done that hike in snow shoes a few years ago and thought it'd be fun to do it again.

As we walked on the snow, Alan sank into the snow a lot which i found unbelievably hilarious, much to his annoyance! The kids had a blast running around the snow and sliding down the slopes. Why pay for tubing when you can have free fun, eh!

And of course there's video.

Here's how funny i found Alan sinking into the snow was!!

First full Family Ski weekend away in Winter Park

Now that Cody is finally ski slope ready, it was the perfect timing for our family ski weekend away. It was part of Alan's birthday celebration. We drove up to Fraser on Friday night to our funky little cabin which had a hot tub right next to the bed and also a sauna in the bedroom.

We spent most of Saturday morning exploring the green runs with Cody and it was fun to finally ski together as a family. Cody really enjoyed his experience but Tyler had a tendency to ski off. We managed to ski for a few hours before stopping for lunch.

After lunch, Alan took Cody down a long run to the base of the mountain to claim their victory Coke while Tyler and I decided to check out new territories of Winter Park that we've never been to. We visited Parsenn Bowl for the first time. It was such a beautiful view from up there.

However Tyler took a fantastic tumble at Parry's Peek and sorta ruined his mood for the rest of the day. It was a good thing it was at the end of our day anyways.

It's too bright, Mommy!!!

Cody finally nails skiing!

Cody hasn't been too keen on skiing ever. So, after 1 - 2 classes, i figured it was time for me to take him to the bunny hills and see if we can crack it.

As usual, in the morning, he came to me and said he doesn't want to go ski. But Tiger Mom said, "We're going skiing!!"(even though my body screamed no too!).

Anyways, we get to Eldora, he whines and up chucks his breakfast while we're in the parking lot and I thought "Oh boy, i drove all the way for this". But he did look better so, we schlepped our skis and poles to the mountains.

We started off on the Magic Carpet and he was initially quite slow but got more and more confident with each run. After 4 runs, he said, "This is boring, let's go on the ski lift!". I was like.. "Alright then!!!". Just a comparison, it took Tyler nearly all day before he felt comfortable going to the ski lift!

We did a few runs on the ski lifts and he finally looked at me and said, "This is actually fun, Mommy. I love skiing!!" And the Tiger Mom in me smiled..

We stayed and skied after lunch too which was more than i expected and headed home at around 3 pm! Awesome day!

Do we really have to go..?? His enthusiasm was catching!!!

This ski is toooooooo heavy....

Is that a smile??

Riding the magic carpet

I think he's got it!!!!

Big smiles after a day of skiing is a good day!!

This is him going slow..

Getting a little better...

He's got it!!!

Ski Winter Park with Tyler and Addy

Tyler and I have been skiing quite a bit this year and since Addy was going snowboarding with some friends from CA, we decided that we could go ski together and see if we can break her record of 1 run per day! Ha!

It was the most gorgeous day and we left early-ish and got there in good time. Tyler was having a fantastic day on the mountain that day and wanted to go fast all the time(for a change). Addy was a little rusty on the board but managed to end her day with 3.5 runs!

Here's a video of Tyler and my pathetic effort of trying to catch him. Please excuse all the swearing and screaming. If you were skiing fast with one hand holding poles and the other hand precariously holding a phone, you'll scream too!

New hobby for 2015 for me. Shooting.. maybe?

It is now nearly halfway thru March and i have not picked my 2 hobbies for the year. One thing that came to mind was to learn to shoot which is something that i'm terrified of. But in the spirit of conquering my fears and all, i've asked my friend James to take me shooting to see if i like it enough to take it up as a hobby.

James came all prepared and even make me take a 15 min introductory course. Just to show i'm a super star student.. here are the 3 rules:

1) Always point muzzle to the front
2) Finger off the trigger unless pointing at target.
3) Good stance(preferably not in high heels!!)

He also brought a variety of guns for me to try. Carl also contributed a gun to the pool. So, we had a S&W 617, S&W model 41, Sig Sauer p225 and a Ruger SR40.

I was started off with a smaller caliber pistol and slowly moved up. Here are some videos and pictures of the exciting hour.

Our most prepared shooting guide

Carl looking cool, but can't hit shit.. ha!

That's my target using one of the smaller caliber guns..

And of course, here are the videos, you can be the judge of when a gun is too big for me.

All in all, it was a fun experience. I haven't quite decided that this is something i would like to pursue, but it's still under consideration.
