Free pancakes at IHOP

Today is national pancake day, and IHOP was offering free pancakes.  Luckily we managed to get in the door at 5:15, and the wait was only 15 minutes.  By the time we had left the line was out the door and beyond..

5 minute wall squat

We started a 30 day challenge in February to do a wall squat, 10 seconds for every day in the month, so day 1 is 10 seconds, day 2 is 20 seconds and so on.  We got bored of the slow speed, so all three of completed the 5 minute challenge today.  It is surprisingly painful to complete the challenge.

Sledding in the snow (or was it grass)

We had quite a lot of snow on Saturday, but it was too cold to go sledding.  So we went on Sunday instead.  However the weather was a lot warmer, so by the time we got round to afternoon sledding a lot of the snow had melted. It didn't stop the boys from having fun, and building a small jump to try their hand at getting air.

Cuda (and Cody) win 8 and under champs

Cody and I woke up early this morning and braved the snowy hour long drive to take part in the 8&U champs.  Cody was involved in 2 relays and 4 individual events, and his determination shone through as he finished first in three of his individual, with a very close second in his last one.  He also helped the relay team to one win and one second.  Overall he finished as the top 8&U boy swimmer and improved his 100IM time down to 1:36.07 (somehow he swam his 100IM faster than his 100Free today).

Cody PE Day

The school offered the chance to go take part in a PE class this week for Cody. The theme was Olympic winter sports, although most of the time I think it was more like bedlam.

Snowman in Summer

It is not quite summer, but we have not seen a lot of snow this season.  Here is our snowman, hanging on for the last 10 days or so.

Cody and Tyler Science Fair

We only had short notice for this one, and not many people put in an entry. Siew Gin and the boys worked on moving a claw using their muscles and everyone at the fair thought it was cool.

Tyler tries his fin at Scuba Diving

Now Tyler is 10, he is old enough to try out Scuba Diving.  He went on a 'Try Scuba' evening which consists of some basic instruction, a few skills (equalize, clear mask, replace regulator) and then around 30 minutes of actual scuba in the local swimming pool.  After a lot of reminders for him to pay attention prior to the class he actually seemed to listen and managed to do all the skills.  I think he is still a little young to take the bigger class, but maybe in a year we will check it out.
