The Wienermobile comes to town

Not sure this would qualify as the highlight of the week, but our local supermarket hosted the arrival of the Wienermobile

It is a pretty plush vehicle inside and is bigger than the last one I saw like it.  The boys enjoyed a small Easter egg hunt to get their Wiener whistles.

The Wiener boys !!

Gull wing doors no less

Where are those eggs?

Cody visits MCD

Tyler has been pestering me all week to go back to MCD, so as we had to do a car swap at the park and ride, we took both the boys to eat food, play on the slides and have a good time.

The Tyler on the bus

I volunteered to pick up a car from the airport, and as Tyler likes buses and airports we took the Skyride there to go pick it up.

Tyler and Mateo visit the Science Museum

We had an early start today to go visit the Denver Science Museum.  Both Mateo and Tyler had visited before and wanted to check out the space exhibit.

Ready for the final frontier

We then took a trip upstairs on our way to see the snakes, stooping for moose.

Moose Alert

We had a chance to see and touch a live snake, and I was pleasantly surprised that Tyler actually volunteered to touch the snake.

Snake ahead

Then we went to a new exhibit to the museum called Lizards and Snakes which was exciting as they were well displayed and we finished up with a picture with the snakes.

Is that a lizard?

Where is that snake?

Then its was off the IMAX theater to see a show called flying monsters 3d  which Tyler thought was a little scary but still enjoyed it at the end.

After lunch we had a quick visit to the mummies, back to space and finished off with the gem exhibit before the boys fell asleep on the drive home.

Gumpaste and Fondant Final Lesson

Final Cake

So, there it is, my final cake for my Fondant and Gumpaste class. It was quite a simplistic design as i spent most of the class rolling those balls!!!

But i was quite pleased with how smooth the fondant looked on the final product. My cake for sure wasn't so smooth!!
Tyler posing with my cake

I have to say Tyler is for sure my biggest fan. He is always wow'ing and ooh'ing and ahh'ing over my cake. This time he went upstairs and said to Alan:

Daddy, it's so beautiful!! So, beautiful!!

What can i say, he's easy to impress!! ha!!

Cody wanted a picture with the cake too since Tyler was all excited about it

Boys will be boys with Play-Doh

Cody and Tyler got to play with the play-doh today.  This is a constant battle between the kids as they each want the same tool to slice up and shape it, and the same color.  Not to mention keeping it off the floor and ensuring that Cody touches it as part of his sensory development.

Cody to Play-Doh contact !!

Building a Bookcase

We bought a bookcase from Ikea and today we finally got around to building it with help from Cody and Tyler.

Lunch with Siew Gin

After a posh meal last night, we took Tyler to lunch today and went to the Taj Mahal (in Lafayette).  The buffet had some of our favorites on it, but Siew Gin and I both thought the food has gone downhill.

Tyler enjoyed his pancake naan and rice and he got to hunt for treasure afterwards.

Smile Tyler !!

Date night at Fruition Restaurant

We went to Fruition restaurant for our date night this week.  This is in a quiet neighborhood and has a good reputation for food.

Service was sketchy, sometimes good, sometimes not so good, and they didn't have a huge menu but Siew Gin declared this as the best restaurant food she had eaten in 2012.

Check out the Potato Wrapped Oysters

Grouper and Lamb for main course

Ikea Treasure

Tyler came with me to IKEA today and we stopped off to find treasure very close to the store as it wasn't opened when we arrived.

Tyler liked the trains that went by, and loved walking around IKEA..

Found the treasure..

Cody got a brand new bike

Cody doesn't know how to ride a bike yet, and hasn't mastered the tricycle so we thought it was time to get him something that would allow him to practice his skills.

We took him out over the weekend to practice his skills..

Rabbits out

We have had a lot of rabbits in the garden, eating the grass so it was time to go put up a second fence to see if we can slow down their progress.

The boys and Siew Gin helped with the first attempt.  We will keep an eye out to decide if we need to dig it into the ground or not but so far so good..

Maybe two fences will slow them down?

Hiking the Coal Creek Trail

We went hiking with Veronica and Mateo today along Coal Creek Trail and managed a good round trip hike of 2.5 miles.  Saw a lot of people out and about as well as woodpeckers and ducks..

On the way we stopped off to find treasure and introduce Mateo and Veronica to geocaching.

Sunday we will be hiking the same trail, with different people..

Fondant and gum paste class

So, i've been taking the 3rd cake decorating class and this class, we're doing gumpaste and fondant which i have absolutely zero experience in and have been quite intimidated by it.

But it really is quite easy. We haven't done anything too fancy which explains the lack of posts on it. The one class that was interesting, we made a few flowers and a bow

Bow, made on first day of class

Rose

All the other flowers and leaves too!

Anyways, the fun continues!! :)

Irish Soda Bread for St Paddy's Day

The Chandrasekaras had a party to celebrate St Paddy's day. I was put in charge of making appetizers - so we settled on Irish Soda Bread with Smoked salmon.

I had never even heard of soda bread and so, i was on hunt for a good recipe. But it's sorta hard to figure out if the recipe is good if you have no clue what the end product is supposed to be. And not to mention that the idea of what it's supposed to be ranges from dry and plain to moist and loaded with raisins and caraway seeds and some even had nuts!

But i figured, moist and flavorful beats dry and bland anytime even if it's not all that authentic!! Anyways, i was a little nervous about how it came out and didn't even bother with waiting for it to cool before i cut a piece of it. My first impression.. weird...

Then, i slathered some chive butter on it and it worked, so.. yay!!

I used 1 loaf to serve with the smoked salmon(didn't take any pics!!) and the rest just as is. Apparently many people liked it.. so double yay!! :)

Irish soda bread.. with raisins and caraway seeds

Half a date hour

We dropped Tyler off with Mateo tonight and took the chance to head over to Orchard Mall and eat at the Cheeky Monk  Cody has been progressing well with solid food so we brought him along and he chomped on fries and lapped up the onion soup.
Ready for our date

Yummy Food

The beer is nice as well

Tyler has lunch with Daddy

Tyler had a half day at school as we had a parent teacher conference, so as we only had a short time I treated Tyler to McDonald's and afterwards we had just enough time to buy some fencing to try and keep the rabbits out of the garden before they eat all the grass..

Chicken, my favorite

Watching men fill a hole,
 Tyler is destined for management

Cody and Tyler paint the table orange

Cody and Tyler did some painting tonight, the idea is for Cody to get paint on his hands and get used to the sensory feeling, but he didn't want to get dirty. Tyler couldn't wait to put paint all over himself, and some of it even ended up on the paper.

Check out the painting skills

Flying a helicopter

Monday was helicopter day, with Cody flying the big police helicopter and by chance Damith brought his remote helicopter - The Syma S107

Tyler got to fly it with Damith's help and did a good job taking off, circling and landing.

Taking Off

I have a helicopter a well !!

Cody Sensory Play

Cody is working his way through a whole series of sensory activities to help with his feeding, and now we have done with the 'Dry texture bins' we have moved onto 'Wet texture bins'.

This week it is 'shaving foam' on a tray, and Tyler was more than eager to dive in and show Cody what to do.  Cody is still hands off but did agree to snow boots.

Check out my tummy !!

Cody and Tyler Supergluers

Cody had some old pictures from his school and so Saturday morning we got the glue sticks out and put them onto paper so they didn't get lost.  Siew Gin was supervising to make sure they didn't glue each other together.

Good gluing boys

Dinner Date at Il Pastaio

Siew Gin selected Il Pastaio for our date this week.  This was a 'strip mall' restaurant that has a good reputation  and was quite busy for a Wednesday date.

I thought the food was okay, but nothing special, Siew Gin enjoyed her veal parmigiana and the waiter thought that Siew Gin's fondant flowers were excellent.

Yummy Italian !!

Tyler takes up cage fighting

Well okay, its not really a cage, its the back of Uyen's truck, and he didn't have an opponent as neither Sienna or Cody wanted to get in, and he didn't have a sword, just a walking stick.

Ready for action

Another Millser Birthday

Another year older !!  This year we celebrated by going to Estes Park for the weekend and staying at the evergreens on fall river.  We had a nice two bedroom unit close to the river with all mod cons..

The boys on location
Saturday morning, Siew Gin cooked a bacon breakfast and I opened the cards and skyped with Grandma and Grandad..

Bacon, Yummy !!
We then went for a tour of the river that runs through it, and did our best to capture the kids enjoying the water while at the same time stopping them falling in.

A rare non-tongue picture from Tyler
We tried to go swimming in the morning, but the only pool in the area had a swim meet, so after a trip to the park and a long nap for everyone, we made our way to 'chipper lanes' for some bowling.
At one point I thought we were going to be the only ones in there, but gradually it filled up.  The boys have bowled a few times and Cody nearly beat Siew Gin (they were level on pins) and overall they enjoyed the activity.

Team Millser ready to bowl
We stayed in for our birthday meal and I enjoyed steak, chips and Coke..
My favorite meal..
The next morning we woke up early, only to find out it was late with the clock change, so we quickly had breakfast and headed into RMNP to see the alluvial fan  Tyler is into hiking in a big way and is always saying how he can climb mountains and Cody is also a pretty good hiker..

Onward to victory

I am king of the rock !!

Keep lifting !!

I will save you mummy..
After a mexican lunch we took a stroll around downtown Estes Park and saw the water wheel before stopping off for icecream for Tyler.

Check out the Statue
I am brave really Daddy !!

Where is the water?
I only like Vanilla !!

I only like bears !!
All in all a great weekend, and a chance to relax with Siew Gin and the kids...
