Steps, steps and more steps

Thought I would log a good total for steps to set a benchmark for the rest of the family to target.

Good total to aim for?

It's a bowl off

Tyler and Cody returned for the second time in a week to fat cats for their second duel. This time it was bowling.  They both bowled pretty well, although lumpy balls didn't help and it was neck and neck all the way until the final frame where Cody managed to win by 1 pin scoring 66 to Tyler's 65.

Mini Golf glow in the dark matchup

Cody and Tyler went to fat cats to play a round of mini golf.  Cody surprisingly was a little scared by the glowing skulls and it may have affected his game as he didn't score as well as normal. Having said all that they had fun and Tyler just beat him on the final hole.

Ready to gold, Cody in trademark green shoes!

Cody's ramp project

It is my personal view(annoyance) that kids' school projects are just badly disguised homework for the parents. And this time it's Cody's Ramp Project which was basically a project where we look for ramps around the home and neighborhood and write about it! Why he would choose that over building a domino rally is beyond me!

We had to come up with interesting ways of measuring the ramp..

We used the speed of the truck as one

Like all good projects, it ends in tears..

A very unwilling participant

Eaton Swim Meet

The boys were at another swim meet this weekend and it was in Eaton. I had to look it up to find out where it was and i still didn't know until we got there.

It was a crazy early start and we were out of the house by 6:15 am which i was NOT happy about. AND to make things worse, we got stuck in a traffic jam that made us miss the warm up which was why we got out of the house that early in the first place!!

But it was a beautiful foggy morning and i managed to get some beautiful images of the fog and the mountains. The boys had fun in their meet.

Beautiful colors of the mountains

The fog makes an interesting picture

Not bad picture for something taken from inside a moving car!!

Cody was a little weepy in his first event

Tyler all gungho

Not easy to steal a shot these days.. they are quick to spot the camera woman

Longmont Turkey Trot - 2 Miler

I have been running off and on in my bid to get to 1,000km by the end of the year.  I signed up for the Longmont Turkey Trot 2 miler as I normally use the Sunrise Stampede 2 miler to qualify me for Bolder Boulder, but as my time there wasn't as fast as I liked I had to get another official run in.

The weather was cool, but much better than it could have been and I managed to run 35 seconds faster than the last time I did this race back in 2011 and 24 seconds faster than this years stampede.

Overall I finished 50 out of 1194 with a final time of 13 minutes 32 seconds, 6th in my age group. Luckily for me I change age groups next year and move from being the oldest to the youngest!

Kids home work and stuff

It's always funny to read the kids work from school and if it's good, i usually take a picture of it and try to blog it to remember it.

Here's some from this week.

Cody was so proud that he wrote 7 sentences(full of spelling mistakes, but who's noticing??)

Tyler's idea of a monster.. haha..

This is a model of earth surfaces made with home made salt dough. He requested for a photo before i threw it out.

Tyler passes Kumon level EI

Tyler has been working away at his Kumon and just passed his E1 Reading level.  Now he is on to Level EII. Getting closer to level G.

Accurate but not as fast as he could be.
