July 4th Party

We had our annual July 4th party this year again and for this year's theme, i went with another American tradition - Potluck party!! Everybody knows i hate having my guests bring stuff to my party, but since i was not sure how many people were going to show up, i decided that is probably the best way to go.

Which by the way, was the best decision i ever made because 39 people showed up that day! And what's best, i didn't stay up till some ridiculous hour the night before and even got to enjoy an quiet morning. Quite relaxing.

The kids got to go the little fair just in the green space behind our house and the adults had a good time chit chatting on our patio and enjoyed the abundance of delicious food brought by our guests! Most people actually stayed till dark. When it was getting dark, we lit a chinese lantern which was a delight to all the kids. But i think they adults got quite excited too!

And we also had the biggest group to join us in watching fireworks in Broomfield Commons. The beautiful fireworks was the perfect ending to a good party!

Guess where they are sitting??

Six months of running - 575 miles and counting

Passed the halfway point in the year, so a quick update on my running stats.
I am still running every day and so far this year I have

Run 575 miles, which works out at 5K (3.1 miles per day).
I have run for 76.5 hours which works out as 8:00 minute per mile
I have burned 78,157 calories which works out as 558 cokes, or 3 cokes per day.

Miles per month

Superior Downhill Mile - July 4th 2013

This is one of the runs that I do each year, and after a late night, early start and having to park my car at the top of the hill which meant  one mile walk back to it after the finish I was all set to run again.

This year I managed to get under 5 minutes 39 with a time of 5 minutes and 26 seconds, which is a minor improvement.

It is good that the course is downhill, but I still seem to struggle with the first 1/4 of the race as it is almost too downhill.

Denver Municipal Band at Broomfield Amphitheatre

In a bid to broaden the boys horizons we lined up an evening with the Denver Municipal Band  I was expecting the full band, but alas only 9 players were present.

The boys lost interest after two songs, so luckily Siobhan was there to keep them entertained while I listened to the music.  It was pretty good and covered quite a few different music types.

Where is the rest of the band?

Putting up the flag

We have been in the US for a long time now, this year I finally got around to putting up a flag on the house in preparation for the 4th of July celebration.

A day with Daddy

The boys woke up a little later than usual today after a couple of late nights, and after we finished breakfast, Kumon and school work we made our way to Chippers for a bowl off. The boys are still using the bumpers but are getting closer to the 100 pin mark.

After Chippers I took them to Chic Fil A because Bolder Boulder gave me a free salad and our Zorbing night gave us free nuggets..

After their nap, they volunteered to wash the car, which may or may not be a good thing, and we finished the days activities with a trip to Derda for swimming.

Wash the car please boys

All in all a fun filled day for the boys.
