Cody works on his butterfly

Cody has joined the school swim team, and although he is the smallest and youngest there by quite a way he is more than competitive.  His swimming and stamina has improved a lot and this week he got to practice his butterfly, which is pretty hard for him due to his size and strength.

My 38th Birthday

I had a nice quiet birthday this year. As usual, the kids came and woke me up with their cards and presents!! And that night, Alan took me out to Denver's best sushi restaurant for a treat, while the Chandrasekaras looked after the boys.

A few days later, i threw an impromptu birthday and CNY party(for the missing usual suspects). To make life easy, i had a hot pot party. It was fun and food was good! :)

For my birthday cakes, i ordered some peanut butter jelly cupcakes and another another terrible cake from Whole Foods(yuck)!

Sledding on Super Bowl Sunday

It's not often our home NFL team gets to the Super Bowl, which is the finals for American Football. Knowing that we will all be glued to the TV for a few hours, i thought i'd take the kids for some sledding before the game. The kids are rooting for the home team but there is only so much football they can watch.

And we have had quite a snow dump. The kids were excited, of course. Tyler has now become quite the expert and Cody enjoys the rides down though he's not ready to try the spinning individual sled yet. But both of them were quite willing to hike up the hill which was good!

Anyways, we had great fun sledding down the slopes. I think it's time to go look for bigger slopes!!!

Tyler loves the spinning individual sled

Not sure what he thought he was doing..

Both of them finally made it up after fighting over who's pulling the sled up

And here are some of the videos of us flying down the slopes! Judging from the laughter, i'm not sure who was having a better time!!!

This video is messed up because i had to rotate it around..

Taping 6 courts at Westminster

For a long time we have used 4 courts at Westminster gym. This year they motorized the basketball nets, so we got the opportunity to put down six courts this weekend, so that people can get more games.

We had quite a few people volunteer and got it done in just over 90 minutes.

Clearing the snow

We have had a lot of snowfall this year already, and with the cold temperatures it has stayed on the ground. So the boys got a chance to help Daddy clear the snow from the driveway and road.  They were enthusiastic but their technique could do with some improvement.

Home Depot Race Car

The boys have been going to Home Depot once a month to build something, get a badge and compete against each other to decide who has the best building skills.

This month they got to build and race a race car.

CNY Culture Show

As part of trying to introduce some Chinese Culture to the kids, we took them to a Chinese New Year Cultural Show in Denver. We also invited the Heides to go with us.

It was a big big show and seemed like the entire Asian population showed up for it.

Anyways, it was actually quite a good show with many talented performers from local and international troupes. There were dances, singing, lion dance, magic show, acrobats and even a Chinese Opera. The kids and the adults enjoyed it!
