Eric's Wedding

This weekend was my friend, Eric's wedding. I was excited at the prospect of going to an adult event without the kids and Hish, the super savior, once again was kind enough to help watch the kids for a few hours.

The wedding took place in a beautiful manor in Lyons. It was a really sweet and simple wedding. The weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and the bride was of course, beautiful.

Anyways, we had a good time catching up with some old colleagues. Ugh.. makes me sound so old when i call them old colleagues.

Check out my new shoes.. Tyler said, "Mommy, you are VERY tall!!" Ha!!

Pelican hunting and golfing

While Alan was finishing up a race, i took the kids to the park to run around while i try use my camera. While they were there, Tyler said, "Look, mommy.. pelicans!!". I looked up and lo and behold, there were pelicans in our pond. I think he learned  that from our safari trip to Florida!! :)

Tyler being nice and smiling for the camera

Where are the pelicans??

Just in case you think i'm making it up...

Then in the evening, Alan suggested we went for a game of mini golf. We keep trying mini golf because we think the kids will get better at it and we can actually be competitive. They finally understand a little of the game and tried to actually hit it.

So, at the end of the game tally, everybody except me got at least one hole-in-one and i had the worst score. Something tells me i better up my game in the next few years...

Sunrise Stampede 2012 - 2 Miler Age Group Winner

This is the second year I have done the 2 miler and the second year I have been sick when running it, must be jinxed !!

Managed to run this 10 seconds faster than last year which doesn't sound like a lot, but in a 2 mile race it is significant.

I came in 21st overall out of 468 and won my age group, so it all bodes well for my next race next weekend.

Expresso Cycle Competition Winner

I have blogged before about the expresso bikes which allow you to ride and compete against others around the world.

In April there was a competition organized to compete across all the different courses using a handicap system and the winners would receive a T-Shirt.

Three of us managed to complete all the courses (43 in all) and I won the overall mountain category.

I haven't ridden since then, waiting for my fathers day gift of cycling shoes !!

Scan that code to race against me !!

Memorial Day Weekend Picnic

It is also a tradition that we do a picnic at the park the day before Memorial Day. After missing the last few years, we decided to do it this year.

It was a simple affair with no fuss and everybody came and had a good time relaxing.

Bolder Boulder 2012

Like all other years, we took part in the Bolder Boulder this Memorial Day. We usually have somebody to help us carry the kids apart from Alan each year but this year, we were on our own which turned out to be a good thing as it forced the kids to actually do some walk/run!

We were quite impressed that Tyler managed to do 7 out of 10 km and even Cody did 2 km on his own. Alan was obviously the super trooper to haul the kids whenever he can while i felt pretty good this year and did a lot of cheering, threatening, encouraging and tricking to get the kids to walk the extra steps!

We did it in about 2 hrs which i thought was pretty good considering we were doing 2 kilometer worth of crawling speed when Cody was walking on this own.

Finally, we made it!!!

After the race, we headed to a new Thai restaurant to try it out. Hot tom yum!!!!

Florida Vacation - last day

Our Florida trip came to an end too soon. We headed out to the beach one last time in the morning so that the kids can say goodbye to the beach.

Last trip to the beach

The obvious athletic gene disparity in the household!

Another rare family picture

After the beach and a quick pack up, we were off!! I have to say that i must be getting better at food estimation because we managed to finish almost all the grocery we bought for the trip! Yay!!!

We stopped at Island Cow for a quick lunch before we started our drive across the state back to Miami to catch our flight.

Tyler quite enjoying his newly acquired reading skills

Cody who does everything his brother does, pretends to read too!

We took the faster highway this time, so we were in Miami in about 2 hrs. With a few hours to burn before our flight. We thought we'll visit the Miami Beach to stretch out our leg. And as they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. So, we thought we'd break in into the park!

The kids getting thru the fence

Nice sandy beach with clear blue water

Where are all the shells, mummy?? I tell you, these kids sure have high demands!!!

But because of the bad security in Miami, we thought the safest thing to do is to head to the airport. I have to say, Tyler was behaving like a proper boy this trip by offering to carry one of the bags. And he actually did!! He lugged it around and pushed it when he could.

Our big boy carrying one of the luggage

Cody holding tight to the railing, once bitten twice shy!!

He fell the first time we were on the train. hehee.. didn't have to tell him twice the 2nd time we got on the train!! And as boys, this is what we have to deal with whenever we go anywhere!

If there is a bar somewhere, they will swing it!

Cody checking out the plane

And of course, according to Murphy's Law, because i didn't bring any extra clothing for Cody on the plane, he had to pee in his pants while sleeping(while Alan was holding him, no less!!!), So, with only a diaper on, i wrapped a jacket around him to preserve his modesty. He walked around looking like he's wearing a kilt! Great entertainment value!!

Sexy legs

All in all, i thought it was a fabulous trip! We actually got to do some stuff that's actually fun for us and the kids. They are finally big enough that we can start introducing more adventurous activities! Let's also hope they will enjoying doing new things like their parents, eh!!
