Superior Downhill Mile 2015 - Tyler makes his debut

I normally run the Superior Mile on July 4th, and this year Tyler was persuaded to run as well.  We had an early 6am start, and were on the startline ready to race at 7am.

I told Tyler not to go too fast at the start but also avoid getting trampled.  Without any delay the gun went off and we were off (at the finish Tyler said Daddy you started so fast).

I have lost some speed from last year, probably due to lack of training but I managed a respectable 5:42.9, Overall 54th out of 261, 11th in my age group, the only question was if Tyler could finish within 2 minutes of me.

I ran back up the course, and cheered Tyler on encouraging him to sprint and try and beat the bigger kid ahead of him.

He had a great finish and came in 7:39.5, overall 153 out of 261 and second in his age group, missing out by only 1.5 seconds from the top spot.

July 4th Party 2015

It's been a full year since we've had a party at our house. With all the renovation work in the last year, i had been not very keen on throwing parties. So, this was me getting my feet wet into the party throwing scene.

Just to keep thing simple, i had opted for mostly Costco catering options. We had 30+ guests and it was a beautiful day. We had a great time with friends chatting, and eating and playing games.

We ended the day with fireworks from the commons and everybody enjoyed it!

My Subaru has just made it to 100,000

On our way home from Bittersweet we had to stop 1 mile from our house to take a snapshot of my Subaru clocking 100,000 miles, spread out over 8.5 years!

Siew Gin has double that on her car, so I guess we know who drives the most.

Fathers Day 2015

We had a fairly active fathers day this year.  Managed to get in some badminton, lunch out, cycling and steak from the barbeque as we ate outside for the first time this year.

Longmont Sunrise Stampede - Age Group Winner

Having spent the last two weeks in Malaysia and only doing a few runs while I was over there, wasnt sure if I was going to run this race, but I did run when I came back and didn't feel too slow so signed up a few days in advance and did a few runs with the kids cycling before the day.

Conditions were very hot and my lack of speedwork didn't help, but luckily everyone seemed to be affected by it. I ran probably my slowest time on this course coming in 23rd at 13:56, but despite that I was fastest in my age group, first home from Broomfield and won a mug..

Next year I go into the next (older) age category, so will have to see if I can run it faster.

Cody and Tyler at the track

I signed Cody and Tyler up for track this summer, mainly so I can run while they get a workout. Cody seems to enjoy it as much as Tyler, perhaps because he is one of the better 5 year olds..
