Hiking the Manitou Incline

I had a meeting to attend in Colorado Springs with Steffen, and he suggested that we get up early and hike the Manitou Incline.  This is a 1 mile uphill using railroad ties as steps and gains over 2000 feet, so pretty steep (in some places 68%).

We managed a good time, 42 minutes (36 minutes of hiking and 6 minutes of resting on the way). Once at the top, we took the Barr trail down, which is around 5 miles of downhill trail. This took us around 50 minutes, so clearly uphill was very steep.

Maybe next time I am in the area I will attempt it again.  It appears that late afternoon is the best time as it is cooler and less people.

Superior Downhill Mile 2017 - All 3 Millser Boys finish again

All the boys work up early this year to take part in the 4th of July downhill mile in Superior.  Tyler was keen to run on his own, and Cody was keen to run with me. This year we were also joined by Sapna, Vivek and Vikram as they practically live on the course itself.

When the gun went, Tyler disappeared down the hill. Cody also set off at a good pace and I followed behind.  Cody was much improved this year, and as we approached the finish line (with Tyler already finished and cheering us on) we had a chance to get a sub 8 minute run.  With some encouragement Cody picked up the pace, and we just squeaked in.

Tyler managed a fast 5:42.4 (Still slower than my best time), Cody managed a 7:56.6 and I was 7:58 exactly.

Then we waited for Sapna, Vivek and Vikram who finished further back.  Afterwards we went back to their house for pancakes, before watching the parade where Cody saw of his swim buddies.

Father's day 2017

This year Tyler had to set off for his camp, so we did the first half of fathers day with breakfast in bed, then Cody and I went golfing while Siew Gin took Tyler to camp.  The second half of fathers day will happen next Sunday.

Cody takes first place twice at the Boulder All Comers track meet

Cody was the only Millser representative at the track meet.  Tyler was sick and I was too lazy too run! So all our hopes were on Cody.  This was also meet an Olympian night, so we got a chance to meet some and see a couple of Olympic torches.

Cody managed to win his 100m race in 17.8, followed up with another win in the 200m in 38.6. Just have to work on his block start next!
