Labor Day weekend at Granby

We were very lucky that the Heides invited us to spend a weekend in Granby as we didn't make any plans for the long weekend. With strict warnings to not make too much noise and annoy Uncle Jim, we were on our way.

We got there about lunch time and after dropping off our luggages, we headed out to the restaurant on the premise for lunch thinking it would be quick. What we didn't know was, it was the slowest service in the world. The Heides managed to get back from their hike and join us for lunch

Lunch time

After lunch, we put the kids down for a nap and it was time for the parents to put our feet up.. :)

Peace and quiet at last

After the kids awoke from their nap, we took them to the pool and they spent about an hour splashing around. We then quickly fed them and went out for a date night(my ingenious idea!!). I figured no point having another date-night-loving couple friend when you couldn't make use of it.

We went to a bistro that served a quite yummy and different 6-course dinner for 30 bucks.. and a lovely date night..!!

The next morning, it was our turn to make breakfast. We had a full English breakfast we bacon, mushrooms, potatoes, baked beans, fried bread and tomatoes!

Got to go learn some less fattening breakfast meals!!!

It was Uyen's birthday that day, so we got to open some presents

As a special treat, we even got some moose sighting from our kitchen window!!!

After a full breakfast, we went out for a hike and geocaching hunt.It was a nice little hike around Shadow Mountain and around Grand Lake. Very pretty!

Finding the treasure..

We stopped by the lake so that the kids can throw rocks into the lake. I guess it's not just our kids that likes to throw rocks!!!

Photo op!

After the hike, we went to grab lunch in Grand Lake town. After that, a quick stop at the park in town. And on our way back to the car, we saw somebody with a very unique pet. The kids of course had to check it out!!!

It's a pig!!!

Where??

That evening/night Uyen and Jim had their turn of date night. We took the kids out to the lake just for something to do. As it was a little chilly and getting late, we didn't get to go on the paddle boats.

Sienna's thinking : get me out of here!!!!

An almost picture perfect shot!

And after a quick stop at the local ice cream store.

I like vanilla

We like chocolate

Then we headed for Tacos for dinner where i tried but failed to con Sienna into eating a new food! I only managed to get her to take one bite before that clever little girl sussed me out. So, i had to give in and serve her mac-n-cheese!!! Next time, Sienna!!! And after dinner, a game snakes-n-ladders before a good bath and head to bed.

It's Tiger's turn!!

The next morning, Uyen and Jim made us some yummy burritos for breakfast.

After breakfast, it was time to head home. After some quick packing and clean up, it was time to leave our cute little cabin.

A group picture. This reminds me of picture of my parents of us when we were small!

Anyways, it was a nice little trip and the kids played well together i thought. We managed to synch up our nap/meal times and got to do all the things we wanted to do and a date night to boot!! How much better can it get??!
