Weekend in Winter Park

As its's quite a big pain to try to make a day trip for skiing, i'm trying out a few configurations. This weekend, we decided to drive up super early in the morning, ski for the day, stay over in Winter Park, ski a little more on Sunday and start driving back after lunch to try to avoid the horrible traffic.

But all things went wrong. It snowed on Saturday, turning the roads to the ski areas a disaster to drive in and Cody had puked 3 times on the way. By the time we got there for his class, he cried and complained about being tired. Half an hour later, the instructors called us to tell us that he is not participating, so we had to go get him. Grrr..

And it snowed hard that day, so Tyler and I also gave up after 2 hrs of skiing(he says it's too powdery!!). We admitted defeat and headed to the YMCA to rest and the kids went to the pool. I don't know where they get their energy because i passed out on the bed!

That night we went on a sleigh ride dinner at the YMCA that was super cold. The kids somehow still enjoyed the experience. As we sat in the cold barn waiting for our food, Cody asked if we were in a "posh restaurant" because we had candles on the table! Ha! Anyways, food was OK though Tyler really enjoyed his steak and bread.

That night our friend Sapna and Vivek who happened to be in Winter Park joined us at our hotel as we had an extra bed. The boys took them on a few games of UNO before turning in for the night.

Sapna and Vivek came to stay with us for the night

The next day, Cody went to try out the bunny hills with Daddy while Tyler, Vivek and I headed up the mountain for a free class. Unfortunately Vivek couldn't be in the same class as us. So, Tyler and I went off with the instructor to learn how to properly do some parallel turns. The instructor was strict and tough and Tyler did much better than me. He pushed Tyler hard and expected me to follow suit. I could barely keep up!! So, after the class, i have to say Tyler's skiing was better than mine!!(of course i didn't tell him that!)

Anyways, i'm not sure this configuration works, so, we'll have to try another configuration next!

And here are some videos of the boys' skiing:

Here's Tyler skiing at the end of the day. He's finally doing the skating and his skis are more parallel than before! Amazing what 1 class can do!
