Tyler and Siew Gin went skiing with Matthew on Saturday, so Cody and Daddy got to do a few things together.
After breakfast we headed for Home Depot to build a toolbox, followed by hot chocolate and a picture with Santa Claus. Then we managed a trip to the library and playing in the park before watching superman.
The Millsers boys completed their first official 5k today. Tyler managed to complete it all on his own, Cody had a little help from his daddy, but overall they did very well with no complaints.
The boys got Santa Hats as their reward for finishing
Overall time was 53 minutes, Mile 1-14 mins, Mile 2-19 mins, Mile 3-19 mins, Max heart rate for Alan -125.
Cody has completed Kumon level 4A. Just a few weeks behind Tyler. We did this level twice as Cody still needs help with some of the sentences, but now he is reading a lot better. Onwards to 3A which is harder for sure
Cody has graduated into the Swim Team, and had his first session today. He is proud of his racing swim shorts and is working on catching up to Tyler. He found it quite hard this week to do all the drills, but next week I am sure he will be even better..

Cody has the slowest reaction time of the three !!
Tyler and Cody were invited to little gym to celebrate Kristen's 6th Birthday. Cody was braver than normal and Tyler got to play with his friend Owen so the boys had a great time. They enjoyed the Minion themed party and hanging out with Kristen and her brother Georgie.
Tyler had the day off school for Veterans Day and for once he didn't want to go to the aquarium, instead we went to Denver Zoo
It was very busy getting into the zoo, but once inside there wasnt very many people, so we got a chance to explore nearly all of the zoo, and ride the train.
Cody and his class went on a field trip to the Childrens Museum. Normally Cody spends all his time with the fire truck, but today as he had a class friend with him we got to explore more of the museum and see the air balls, and forest adventure land.
Here are some school pictures of the boys. I don't think i had to bribe them this time. Maybe they are finally at the point of knowing how to pose for a picture!! :)
Tyler in Kindergarten at Hulstrom
Cody in Junior Kindergarten Explorers in Broomfield Academy
And as we're cheap parents, you only get these terrible quality pictures to look at!
Cody has a Friday assembly once a month in Broomfield Academy where i guess he may have heard the Pledge of Allegiance being recited. I guess after a year of that, he got it!! Not with all the right preposition, but close enough.
Tyler still remembers it from when he went to Broomfield Academy.

These kids are so funny!! Or they just have an easily amused mother!
It was time to throw our yearly kids birthday party. And this year's theme was Super Heroes! I warned them that this is the last year we're doing anything with Super Heroes as it's getting a little boring(Tyler doesn't like to be called boring).
To go with the theme, i made them their Batman and Robin cake to match their Halloween costume(you can go read the post on that). And to make use of my recently acquired skill, sewing, i made capes and masks for all the kids. Pink ones for girls and blue ones for boys. The capes were made with fancy satin and the masks were made with 2-layer felt.
We also made a backdrop for the kids to pose with their super hero outfit and little comic signs and little callouts that i personally thought were hilarious, but, the kids didn't quite get the humor. In fact, most of them didn't even want the cape!! *gasp* What??!!
Anyways, the usual crowd came and celebrated with us and the weather turned out to be great. So the kids got to go outside and run around, play on the swing, shoot some water gun at Austin Powers and do what kids love to do. They also had a blast running around with Addy's dog - Cooper.
Everybody seemed to have a good time and most of the food was consumed. I took Diana's advice and took a Costco shortcut for some food. We only had leftovers for 2 days! :)
I can't believe the kids are 6 and 4 just like i'm pretty sure my parents can't believe i'm 37! :)

Alan and I showing how it's done. It's amazing how many people didn't get it!!!
Olivia and Jack were the most sporting guests!! They wore my capes and posed!!!

I set myself multiple goals this year with running. One of those goals was to run 1,000 miles. This evening the Mills family ran the last quarter mile with me to cross off the goal.
So how long does it take to run a 1,000 miles? For me it took 308 days, running on average 25 minutes a day for a total of 130 hours at around 7 minutes and 50 second per mile. I burnt up 130,727 calories or 933 cokes. August was my lowest mileage month (81) and October my highest (134).
Final run with Siew Gin and the kids, bringing down my average time !!
