Our friend Sapna has promised to cook for us for years now and we've finally cornered her and even put down a date for her to do it!!

I went to her house to help her do some prep work and hoped to learn some authentic Southern Indian cooking. I think i can reproduce her Okra, but that's about it.

But as promised, she delivered some awesome Jeera Rice, some speciality sambar(i saw her, she ground the spices from scratch) and okra(my request).

As she was a vegetarian and the group was a bunch of heavy meat eaters, we also roped in Snehal a new member of the badminton club to provide a meat curry, which was also awesome!!

We ate till we couldn't eat no more and went for a walk to the end of the world for an outdoor movie - The Ironman.

So, it was a nice Saturday all around with our close friends.

Blueberry Muffins

I'm not sure how many people know this, but i actually like to cook. Anything to do with cooking e.g. cooking itself, watching people cook, reading recipes, eat the food from cooking etc. I LOVE IT! Only a few minor problems though - no time, no talent, no good. ha!!

But baking is by my greatest challenge probably because i've failed the most number of times.

However, unlike other novices, i always end up choosing some crazy hard recipes to do like 3 layer cakes, bundt cake with filling and i also turn my nose on cake mixes. Yuck! If you're going to bake, do it right i always say.

Anyways, this weekend, i decided i was going to do something simple and decided to use up all the blueberries in my fridge. So, blueberry muffin it was. I even had all the ingredients in my house!

So, after some mixing and sifting and baking.. i present my blueberry muffins!!!

Anyways, the blueberries weren't out of the world good, but at least it was not a flop!! Yay!!

Rogers River Run 5k

I managed to find another 5k to run which wasnt too far away in Longmont, and what seemed like quite a nice course along the river. I had done a hard cycle ride on Thursday so wasnt that surprised that my legs felt tired when I started the run and my ankle is still sore , but I ran a more consistent race than Lyons and knocked another 15 seconds off my 5k time, if only I could run the race as fast as on the treadmill... I came in 65 out of 465, so moving up the leaderboard...

Next race is probably holy cow 5k in Westminster

Day after July 4th

July 5th was another party packed day. We were first invited to my friends' Greg and Diana's house for brunch. We arrived super fashionably late(very late) and Tyler had fun playing in Greg's nice new garden and playing with Jarra(dog), Sam(cat) and the other cat(can't remember the name).

Somehow we managed to not take any pictures of any of us apart from Tyler, so, here are some pictures of him..

After a few hours of munching away and catching up with the Prossers, we took our leave and went to a Malaysian picnic. We also arrived super late because i didn't know they had moved the starting time an hour earlier!!!

While I was stuffing my face with good Malaysian food and catching up with some Malay friends, Tyler and Alan spent their time at the little children park area next to our picnic site.

After the 2 parties, we were all pretty much done for the day and went home for a long-awaited snooze... :)

July 4th Party 2009

I have been slacking on the party hosting front for a few months and was guilted into hosting this year's July 4th party. I do need a few nudges once in a while to get into my usual party party mode!!

I did have help from a few friends..

That day we had about 17 guests show up and there were plenty of eating and chatting and catching up. There was as usual too much food but nobody complained!! :)

Once it got a little dark, we went on to let off some of the fireworks that i purchased. We found out that night fireworks that are sold in Colorado are pretty wimpy. They don't fly or make much noise. Now, what good is a firework if it doesn't do that!!! So, i was pretty disappointed with most of my wimpy fireworks.

Towards the end of the my dismal collection of fireworks, we let off my "biggest" purchase which turned out to be pretty good. Even got some applauses from our neighbours!! That's my feature picture of this blog!!

Then we moved outdoors again to go watch some REAL fireworks in the nearby park. As usual, the whole place is a zoo and we managed to find a nice spot..

Always glad that we can walk to our local fireworks display!

We managed to catch some nice fireworks and Tyler who was initially intrigued, lost interested and spent the rest of the time playing with the tarp.

All in all, i am glad i hosted the party and spent the day with close friends and good food!! :)

Superior Mile Race

Superior in Colorado hosts a 1 mile road race each year on 4th of July, so I thought that I would give it a go despite still having a bad ankle. This race starts early around 8am, but the good news is that it is usally finished by 8:15am even for the slowest runners...

I managed to complete this run in just under 6 minutes, which is pretty good, hopefully I will be getting even faster over the summer....

I know it's been a few weeks, so here's something to make up for it.

I was tidying my walk-in closet and Tyler found some of my furry hats and thought it'd be fun to goof about with them on. Of course, i had to take some pictures..
